Why Leh families choose Chandigarh
Ladakh has improved its local schooling significantly in the last decade, but senior-secondary options in CBSE — especially for girls who want to compete in national entrance exams (NEET, JEE, NDA, CLAT) — remain limited. Chandigarh is the practical choice: a short flight, a moderate climate compared to Delhi or Mumbai, an established Ladakhi community at Panjab University, and a school that has hosted Ladakhi girls for over two decades.
What we offer specifically to Leh families
Our Ladakhi hostellers form a tight community within the hostel. The mess accommodates dietary preferences across Tibetan Buddhist and Muslim-Shia cultures (vegetarian is the default, but the kitchen knows the festivals). Wardens are trained on the cultural specifics — Losar (Tibetan New Year), the calendar of Buddhist observances, the school-year mismatch with Ladakhi local schools. Our senior wardens have known Ladakhi families across multiple cohorts. The daughter does not arrive alone.
Getting to the hostel from Leh
Flight: Air India and IndiGo run Leh–Chandigarh services (often via Delhi). Direct seasonal flights operate in summer. Booking 4-6 weeks in advance keeps the fare manageable. Road: the Manali–Leh highway is open mid-May to early October; not recommended for first journeys. We arrange supervised airport pickup at Chandigarh Airport (IXC) for first-time arrivals. Winter return travel is via flight only (October–May).
